Aftermath speaks to the life within Mount Saint Helens. Beauty from destruction. The mountain is an ever changing landscape that gave us a massive reminder that we live on volatile ground. This piece contains mouth blown Fremont Antique Glass. The glass comprising the mountain and foreground feels three dimensional because multiple colors have been swirled and twisted into the glass as it was a molten ball on the end of the blowing pipe. From sheets of this streaky, multi colored glass I didn’t so much as draw a pattern to follow, but let the patterns within the glass dictate how the image should appear.
